Your commitment to join us at the 2024 HR Virginia Leadership Conference is greatly appreciated, and we are thrilled to have you as a valuable volunteer leader. We believe that your presence will contribute to the success of the conference and enrich the overall experience for all attendees. Below are a few reminders.
HR VIRGINIA VOLUNTEER AWARDS
We have much to celebrate at our leadership conference this year, and we're thrilled to recognize the exceptional efforts of our volunteer leaders. The contributions of HR Virginia's volunteer leaders have been truly remarkable, and we are eager to honor their achievements.
We invite our State Council and Chapters to spotlight those outstanding volunteer leaders who have significantly advanced the field of HR. Below, you’ll find an overview of this year's award categories, which recognize excellence in leadership and achievement.
We encourage you to review the award criteria and submit a nomination by following the link below. You may submit multiple nominations, but each must be submitted separately. We encourage every Chapter to submit 1 nomination per category by the deadline of September 27th, but anyone from the following areas can submit a nomination for a Chapter or State Council Director:

Award Categories:
Emerging Leader Award - This award recognizes a rising star who has made a significant impact within HR Virginia, a local chapter, or the HR profession. This individual is a new leader (with 3 years or less in a leadership role) who demonstrates a strong commitment to SHRM and HR Virginia values and has shown exceptional promise early in their leadership journey.
Emerging Leader Award Criteria:

The nominee must be a SHRM member in good standing and actively involved in a local HR Virginia Chapter or the State Council.
- The nominee has shown leadership that significantly benefits their Chapter, the State Council, the HR profession, or the community.
- The nominee exhibits great potential for continued growth and leadership.
- SHRM certification is preferred.
Legacy Leader Award - This award honors an individual whose long-standing dedication to Human Resources has left a lasting impact. It is presented to a veteran SHRM leader who has contributed over 5 years of service in their Chapter or the State Council, shaping the future of HR through their leadership and commitment.
Legacy Leader Award Criteria:
- The nominee must be a SHRM member in good standing and actively involved in a local HR Virginia Chapter or the State Council.

The nominee has served in SHRM leadership roles in their local Chapter or the State Council for a minimum of 5 years.
- The nominee is respected as a role model in the HR community.
- The nominee has consistently shared their expertise and knowledge to advance the profession and mentor others.

SHRM FOUNDATION SILENT AUCTION
We are excited to announce that we will host a silent auction benefiting the SHRM Foundation during our annual leadership conference in October. To help us invigorate our efforts to support the SHRM Foundation, we ask every chapter to donate at least one item to the silent auction.
The funds we raise during these events allow us to improve our chapters while realizing SHRM’s vision of elevating the profession of HR. All contributions are appreciated. Here are some quick donation ideas:
- Gift baskets (locally inspired is always a bonus!)
- Gift cards - restaurants, spa packages, weekend getaways, etc.
- Vouchers - HR coaching, handbook reviews, chapter conference registration, etc.
- Items - Jewelry, purses, games
- Chapter and/or HR swag

Happy-ness Hour and Dinner On Your Own Friday:
Join the Happy-ness Hour from 5:30-6:30pm. Conference attendees will receive complimentary beverages and hors d’oeuvres. Please wear your name badge for the ultimate networking experience! Following "Happy-ness" you will have the opportunity to go to dinner with your chapter board members or other volunteer leaders. We recommend you make dinner reservations in advance. A list of nearby restaurants is under the "Menus & Dining" tab. This is a great time to bond with your chapter or other volunteers over dinner.
HR Virginia Swag Shop:
