Managing Mental Health In The Workplace
Description

A timely and sensitive topic for HR professionals, please note this session mentions mental illness and suicide.  Our role in the workplace calls on us to balance our professional and personal responsibilities. This is why we need work to be a safe space so we can be our authentic selves and free to speak up when we're not okay.  According to the National Alliance For Mental Illness (NAMI), 1 in 5 adults experiences mental illness each year. During this presentation, you will learn how we can support others experiencing mental health challenges. One hallmark of an organization that supports the mental wellness of the employees is the freedom not to be okay and feel supported.   In a captivating and information-packed presentation, April Simpkins, a Sr. HR executive, and mental health advocate, will share her story of loss and how her employer handled bereavement. She will also share how her employer supported her during the most challenging time of her life, the loss of her daughter, an attorney, TV correspondent, and Miss USA 2019, Cheslie Kryst.
